POSP Vendor Conformance & Usability Requirements (VCUR) Project Team Background and Archive Material

CHITTA has entered into an agreement with Alberta’s Physician Office Systems Program (POSP) to provide the input from the Vendor community for the Vendor Conformance & Usability Requirements (VCUR) Task Force that was publicly announced on August 23, 2002.

As a joint program of the Alberta Medical Association (AMA) and Alberta Health and Wellness, POSP’s vision is to establish a physician office information infrastructure that is integrated with the provincial health information system. This means that physician offices should be able to freely communicate with other physician offices, with free-standing sources of information such as labs, community diagnostic imaging clinics, and pharmacies, with regional health authorities, government data repositories, etc.

The VCUR Task Force is charged with defining a target state for physician offices systems that will support the objective of an integrated health information system.

As a consequence of the agreement:

  • All vendor communication and consultation brought to the VCUR task force will be channeled through CHITTA
  • CHITTA is represented on the Task Force and its working groups by members of the CHITTA Standing Committee on Physician Office Systems; these representatives will take an industry-wide, rather than vendor-specific, approach.
